No 54 Squadron pilots pictured just before Dunkirk when 22-year-old Flight Lt. Basil ‘Wonky’ Way, third from left, was credited with two ‘probables’. On 25th July, he shot down a Me 109 before being shot down himself. He is remembered at the Battle of Britain Memorial.
